Where Does Choosy Store Settings on Mac?
Choosy keeps browser lists, rules and prompt settings in Application Support on Mac, managed in the app.
Last updated
Choosy stores its working data under Application Support. Browser lists, rules, prompt styling and the short URL list live there. You edit them through the Choosy settings window, not by hand.
Order carries meaning. Browsers rank from favourite down. Rules run top to bottom with the last one as the default. Set Choosy as the default browser first, or none of the rules will ever trigger.
Where Choosy stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/Choosy (including short_urls.plist)
Browser list, rules and prompt settings, edited in the app UI. Extra shortener domains go in short_urls.plist here. Back up the folder to keep rules across machines.
Frequently asked questions
Links open in the wrong browser. How do I fix it?
Open Choosy settings and check the Browsers tab order plus the Rules list. Order matters. The top browser is the favourite, and the first matching rule wins. Fix those two and most routing surprises vanish.
How do I add a URL shortener to Choosy?
Create the plist with the extra domains and save it to the Choosy support folder. Restart Choosy so it picks up the list. The prompt will then expand those shorteners before matching rules.
