Where Does Colloquy Store Transcripts?
Colloquy transcripts and styles folders on Mac, when logging is actually on, and moving chat history over.
Last updated
Colloquy files chat transcripts under Application Support, one running log per conversation in its Transcripts subfolder. Chat styles live in a Styles sibling, so a full backup of the Colloquy folder preserves both history and appearance.
Logs only exist if transcript logging stayed enabled in Preferences, which it is by default. An empty Transcripts folder usually means logging got turned off, not that the path moved. Copy the folder with Colloquy closed to carry history to a new Mac.
Where Colloquy stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/Colloquy/Transcripts
One log per conversation. Chat styles sit in the Styles sibling, plugins beside that. Use Go to Folder in Finder since Library stays hidden.
Frequently asked questions
My Colloquy Transcripts folder is empty. Why?
Transcript logging is probably off. Open Colloquy Preferences and re-enable transcript logging, then new conversations start recording. Old ones from the silent period are gone for good.
How do I move Colloquy history to a new Mac?
Quit Colloquy on both machines and copy the whole Colloquy folder into Application Support on the new one. Transcripts, styles and connection settings arrive together.
