Where Does Cross DJ Store Its Collection and Peaks?

Where Cross DJ keeps its collection database, peak files and mappings.

Last updated

Cross DJ splits its world into the collection database (.crossdb) and the peak analysis files, both relocatable from Preferences. Mappings and settings travel with the install while the music stays wherever you keep it.

Version jumps moved the peaks folder, which strands old analysis. The supported fix is copying legacy peaks into the new path and reanalyzing peaks only. Same drive letters and mount paths matter when gigging across machines.

Where Cross DJ stores this, by platform

Windows
<Cross DJ collection folder>\main.crossdb

Collection database plus configurable peaks directory. Relocate both via Preferences for external drive gigging. Keep track paths identical across machines or cues and analysis detach.

macOS
<Cross DJ collection folder>/main.crossdb

Same .crossdb plus peaks layout on Mac. Check the analysis path in settings to find the live peaks folder after major updates. iTunes integrated tracks analyze into the same tree.

Frequently asked questions

How do I run Cross DJ from an external drive on two computers?

Point the Peak Files Directory at a folder on the drive under Preferences, General, then open the .crossdb collection from that same drive at session start. Keep identical track paths on both machines or cues detach.

My analyzed tracks lost their waveforms after updating. Why?

Analyze one track and see which folder gains a file, since the peaks path moved between major versions. Copy old peaks into the new location, then reanalyze peaks only to reconcile the database.
