Where Does DroidCam Store Settings?
Where DroidCam keeps client settings on Windows and Linux.
Last updated
DroidCam splits its config by OS. On Windows the client drops its files under ProgramData, and the help pages tell you to delete exactly those to fix settings that refuse to stick. A reinstall without clearing them often keeps the broken state.
On Linux the client uses a plain text file at ~/.config/droidcam in the user home. The OBS plugin variant is separate: its ADB helpers live under the obs-studio plugin data folder, not with the standalone client config.
Where DroidCam stores this, by platform
C:\ProgramData\DroidCam\
Holds client configuration files. Delete them while DroidCam is closed to force defaults, per the official help. The OBS plugin keeps its own ADB copies under the obs-studio plugin folder instead.
~/.config/droidcam
Plain text client config. Edit while the client is closed. Driver resolution overrides on some distros live separately under /etc/modprobe.d/droidcam.conf depending on packaging.
Frequently asked questions
DroidCam settings will not save on Windows. How do I reset?
Delete the DroidCam files under C:\ProgramData and reinstall the client. That clears stuck resolution and connection options the UI will not drop. Pair the phone fresh afterward.
Where is the Linux client config file?
Edit ~/.config/droidcam while the client is closed. Resolution and driver options live there as plain text, which beats fighting the GUI for headless setups.
