Where Are Duskfade Save Files Located?

Duskfade keeps saves under LocalAppData in a standard Unreal layout, with the settings file sitting inside the save folder.

Last updated

Duskfade is the August 13, 2026 release from Weird Beluga, and its PC data layout is standard Unreal: a Duskfade folder inside LocalAppData with Config and SaveGames subtrees. The one wrinkle is that a settings.sav file also lives inside SaveGames, so anyone poking around can mistake it for a save slot.

Steam Cloud and Xbox Cloud both cover the game, and the Microsoft Store version supports Play Anywhere, which means console and PC progress can follow the same account. The local folder still matters for backups and for the usual cloud-conflict cleanup, and it is small enough to copy in one go.

Where Duskfade stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Duskfade\Saved\SaveGames

Save slots plus settings.sav. Config sits beside it in Saved\Config\Windows. AppData is hidden by default; paste the path into the Run dialog rather than browsing to it.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2542020/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Duskfade/Saved/SaveGames

Steam Deck and Linux run the Windows build through Proton for app ID 2542020, so the same Saved tree appears inside the prefix.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Duskfade saves?

Close the game and copy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Duskfade\Saved. SaveGames holds progress and the settings file, Config holds the rest, and the whole tree is small. Steam Cloud covers it, but a manual copy is the safe play before a big update.

What is the settings.sav file in the Duskfade save folder?

It is the game's options file, stored inside SaveGames rather than Config. Leave it in place when copying saves. If you delete it, Duskfade rebuilds defaults on the next launch and your video and audio settings reset.

Can I use a Duskfade save from the Microsoft Store on Steam?

No. Store versions use different containers, an Xbox wgs one on the Microsoft Store side, and there is no documented conversion path. Stick with one version for a given playthrough and rely on its own cloud sync.
