Where Are Forever Ago Save Files Located?

Forever Ago keeps Game Pass and Microsoft Store saves in an opaque Xbox container, with settings in the usual Unity LocalLow folder.

Last updated

Forever Ago is the road trip adventure from Third Shift and Annapurna Interactive that released on October 8, 2026. On the Microsoft Store and Game Pass version, the game follows two PC conventions at once: Unity settings in a LocalLow folder, and Xbox saves in a packaged container that Windows Explorer hides by default.

The save container is the important part. It is not a normal save file you can rename and copy around, so the practical way to move progress is Xbox Cloud sync tied to your account. The LocalLow folder is where you can actually see and back up your settings.

Where Forever Ago stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\57209AnnapurnaInteractive.ForeverAgo_c96c51jf6wkvm\SystemAppData\wgs

The Microsoft Store and Game Pass save container. It is hidden: paste the path into the Run dialog (Win+R) instead of browsing to it. What sits inside are Xbox containers, not plain save slots. Settings live separately at %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Third Shift\ForeverAgo.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy my Forever Ago save to another PC?

Not by copying files out of the wgs container. It is built for Xbox Cloud sync rather than manual transfer, so sign in with the same Microsoft account and let cloud sync bring progress across. The LocalLow folder is only worth copying for settings.

Where does Forever Ago store settings on Windows?

In %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Third Shift\ForeverAgo, the standard Unity location for this studio. The folder is hidden by default, so paste the path into the Run dialog or turn on hidden items in Explorer.

I play Forever Ago on Steam. Is the save path the same?

The paths on this page are confirmed for the Microsoft Store and Game Pass version. The Steam build's save folder has not been documented publicly yet, so do not assume the same container applies there. Check back after the first wave of players posts paths.
