Where Does EVE Online Store Settings?
EVE Online per install settings folders on PC and Mac, with characters kept on Tranquility.
Last updated
EVE keeps local options in per install settings folders: %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\[install]\settings_* on Windows (core_char and core_user files for UI, graphics, chat), ~/Library/Application Support/CCP/EVE on modern Mac. Screenshots, overviews, logs and fittings live in Documents\EVE on both.
The install subfolder encodes your install path and server, so copy whole settings_* trees when migrating, never single files. Characters and wallets never touch disk (Tranquility holds them); Steam Cloud syncs launcher prefs only. Remap Steam screenshots off F12; it fights the in game help key.
Where EVE Online stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\[install]\
[install] encodes path and server (e.g. c_tranquility). settings_Default/Custom hold UI, graphics, chat. Screenshots in Documents\EVE\capture. Progress server side. Exact subfolder varies by install.
~/Library/Application Support/CCP/EVE/
Native Mac client, same settings_* model and server side progress. Documents/EVE shared for overviews and screenshots. Exact subfolder varies by install; legacy wrapper paths differ.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move EVE settings to a new PC?
Copy the entire settings_* folders for your install across, plus export overviews in game to Documents\EVE\Overview for sharing. Single file copies break the layout.
Where are EVE Online screenshots?
Documents\EVE\capture\Screenshots on both OSes (PrintScreen in game). Change Steam's screenshot key first since F12 collides with EVE help.
