Where Is the Firefox Profile Folder?
Firefox keeps bookmarks, passwords, and extensions in profile folders. The paths for Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus the about:support shortcut.

A Firefox profile holds everything that is yours: bookmarks, saved logins, extensions, history, and site data. The browser program and the profile live in different places, which is why a reinstall can leave your data intact and a profile reset can wipe it.
Profiles sit in one folder with names like 8fj2k1sx.default-release, an eight character prefix, a dot, and the profile name. The file that tells Firefox which of them to load, profiles.ini, sits one level above. Rather than memorizing any of that, type about:support into the address bar and use the button next to Profile Folder. It opens the real folder in your file manager.
Where Firefox stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
profiles.ini and installs.ini sit one level up, directly in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox. Firefox installed from the Microsoft Store keeps its profile in a virtualized location under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages, so the Open Folder button can fail there. The about:profiles page lists the true path either way.
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
profiles.ini sits one level up in ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox. In about:support the button is labeled Show in Finder. The Library folder is hidden by default in Finder, which makes that button the practical route rather than browsing by hand.
~/.mozilla/firefox
profiles.ini sits directly in this folder, next to the profile directories themselves. Snap and Flatpak builds of Firefox keep their profiles inside their own sandboxed directories instead, so trust about:support over this path if the folder looks empty.
Frequently asked questions
how do i find my firefox profile folder
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. The Profile Folder row shows the full path and has an Open Folder or Show in Finder button beside it. The about:profiles page does the same job and also lists every profile you have, including ones Firefox is not currently using.
what is profiles.ini in firefox
A small text file that lists every profile Firefox knows about and marks which one to load at startup. It lives one level above the Profiles folder, not inside it. If Firefox starts with a blank profile after a refresh or a crash, the paths in this file are usually what went wrong.
can i copy my firefox profile to another computer
Yes. Copy the whole profile folder plus the profiles.ini above it, then correct the Path entries if the folder name changed. Mozilla warns that profiles are not always portable across operating systems, so moving from Linux to Windows may carry bookmarks and logins but not the whole folder.
