Where Does FoxyProxy Store Proxies and Rules?
FoxyProxy keeps proxy rules and subscriptions in per-profile browser extension storage, with export for moves.
Last updated
FoxyProxy stores proxy definitions and URL patterns in extension storage inside the active profile. Credentials, subscriptions, and logging options share that space. There is no standalone config file.
Pattern subscriptions bridge installs elegantly. Shared rule lists refresh from URLs on every machine. Personal proxies and credentials still need the manual export to travel.
Where FoxyProxy stores this, by platform
%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions (per profile)
Proxies and patterns per profile. XML export covers credentials and rules. Subscriptions refresh from URLs after import.
~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions (per profile)
Same model on Mac across Chromium and Firefox builds. Firefox keeps it under its Profiles tree. Prefer export over folder copies.
~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Extensions (per profile)
Chromium profiles under ~/.config and Firefox under ~/.mozilla. Same XML workflow. Logs stay local and never migrate.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move FoxyProxy rules to a new browser?
Export patterns to an XML file from settings, then import on the new profile. Proxy credentials travel in the file, so handle it carefully. Subscriptions re-fetch from their URLs.
Does browser sync carry FoxyProxy rules?
Partly through browser sync when enabled, but the XML export is the complete route. Scheduled pattern subscriptions update themselves after import.
