Where Is the Fuzzel Config File?
Fuzzel reads fuzzel.ini from ~/.config/fuzzel on Linux, with system defaults in /etc/xdg.
Last updated
Fuzzel uses one INI file at ~/.config/fuzzel/fuzzel.ini for fonts, colors, dimensions, and behavior. System defaults live in /etc/xdg/fuzzel.ini for reference. Copy values over rather than editing the system file.
The file is optional. Missing entries fall back to compiled defaults, so minimal configs stay short. Clipboard plugins and dmenu modes need no extra files. Whole folder backup is trivial since history and cache need no care.
Where Fuzzel stores this, by platform
~/.config/fuzzel/fuzzel.ini
Main and only config. Create ~/.config/fuzzel on fresh installs. Compare with /etc/xdg/fuzzel.ini for commented defaults.
Frequently asked questions
How do I theme Fuzzel?
Set font, colors, and border values in fuzzel.ini. Test with a direct launch to see errors. Keep the file in dotfiles for sync.
Where is Fuzzel history stored?
Nowhere persistent that needs backup. Frequency sorting rebuilds from use. Deleting cache never breaks launching.
