Where Does GOG Galaxy Install Games?
GOG Galaxy default install folders on Windows and macOS, and how to find a custom library path from Galaxy settings.
Last updated
GOG Galaxy asks where to put games during setup and remembers that folder for everything after. The Windows default is a GOG Games folder at the drive root. Mac installs default under the user home instead. Classic offline installers default to the same roots.
If the folder is a mystery, do not guess. Open Galaxy > Settings > Installations and read the game installation folder row. That row is the truth on your machine. Cloud saves sync separately, so local files can lag behind the latest session.
Where GOG Galaxy stores this, by platform
C:\GOG Games
Each game gets its own subfolder with the full offline installer contents. Galaxy metadata sits in %programdata%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage. Change the path under Settings > Installations.
~/GOG Games
Same per game subfolder layout. Use Galaxy settings to confirm if you picked a custom drive at install time. Old Mac ports may use ~/Applications/GOG instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move a GOG game to another drive?
Use Galaxy: select the game, open its settings, and choose Move folder if offered. Otherwise copy the game subfolder, uninstall in Galaxy, reinstall pointing at the new location, and let it adopt the files.
Where are GOG game saves?
Inside each game's own folder or in Documents, depending on the title. GOG publishes per game cloud save paths on the store page. Check the game folder first, then the usual Documents save spots.
