Where Does Heimdall Store Its Database?

Where Heimdall keeps app.sqlite, icons and the /config tree.

Last updated

Heimdall keeps its world in /config: www/app.sqlite for tiles and settings, icons for custom images, plus .env and nginx bits. Linuxserver images document that single mount as the persistence contract.

Backups mean tarring /config while stopped. Version jumps sometimes reshape the database, so migrate stepwise across close releases rather than leaping years at once.

Where Heimdall stores this, by platform

Linux
<heimdall config>/www/app.sqlite

/config mount with www/app.sqlite database and icons. Migrate by copying both with the container stopped. Newer versions add settings import/export; older ones need file copies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Heimdall to a new server?

Copy /config/www/app.sqlite plus the icons folder to the new container with it stopped. The database plus custom images are the whole state; settings export buttons only appeared in later versions.

Heimdall forgot everything after an update. Why?

Persist /config as a volume. Without it every recreate starts blank, which is the top data loss report. The SQLite database plus tiles live entirely inside that tree.
