Where Does Dashy Store conf.yml?

Where Dashy keeps conf.yml, page configs and config backups.

Last updated

Dashy is one YAML file plus friends: conf.yml in /app/user-data with optional extra pages, icons and styles beside it. UI edits write back to the same file with automatic backups into config-backups.

Mount the whole user-data directory, not just the file. Cloud backup with encrypted IDs covers offsite copies for non-Docker users. Validate with the built-in checker after hand edits.

Where Dashy stores this, by platform

Linux
<dashy user-data>/conf.yml

User-data mount with conf.yml plus pages, icons and config-backups. Mount the directory, never a lone file. UI writes land here with auto backups. Cloud backup optional for offsite.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Dashy to a new server?

Copy conf.yml plus any extra page files, icons and stylesheets from /app/user-data to the new host. Everything served from user-data root ports over; the container itself holds no state.

Dashy shows the default config in Docker. Why?

Mount a host directory at /app/user-data containing conf.yml. Single file mounts of just conf.yml hide sibling pages and assets, which breaks sub-config loads with cryptic errors.
