Where Does Hushed Store Numbers and Messages?
Hushed second number data on Android and iPhone, and why your numbers live in the account, not the SIM.
Last updated
Hushed (package com.hushed.release) sells second numbers in US, Canadian and UK area codes for calling and texting over the internet. Over 25 million downloads run through the same VoIP setup. Numbers attach to the account, not the device.
Local app data holds cache, downloaded media and login state under the package folder on Android and the app container on iOS. Call history and messages sync from the account after sign in. Losing the phone never loses a current number by itself.
Where Hushed stores this, by platform
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.hushed.release/files
VoIP needs data or Wi Fi, so offline mode shows an empty history. Reinstall, sign in and let sync finish before judging missing texts. Support can restore lapsed numbers within limits.
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents
GUID changes per install, so use the Files app or a backup to browse. Voicemail, forwarding and auto reply settings travel with the account, not the container.
Frequently asked questions
Do I lose Hushed numbers when I switch phones?
They stay tied to your Hushed account when the subscription is current. Install Hushed on the new phone and sign in. Numbers, voicemail and routing reappear after login.
Does Hushed work without a SIM?
Yes. Calls and texts run over Wi Fi or mobile data through VoIP. No SIM swap is needed. That also means airplane mode with Wi Fi still works.
