Where Does ibis Paint Store Artwork?

ibis Paint keeps editable .ipv artwork in My Gallery inside the app, with PNG exports to Photos and cloud sync for members.

Last updated

ibis Paint keeps editable work in My Gallery as .ipv files. That gallery is the artwork. Sharing a PNG to Instagram does not move the editable file anywhere. It stays in the app until you export the .ipv itself. Many people learn this when a phone dies.

Finished images go to the photo library when you tap Save Image. Device transfers use Dropbox, SD card, or iTunes File Sharing for the .ipv files. Prime members also get ibis cloud storage (64 MB free, 20 GB with Prime). Turn cloud sync on before you need it.

Where Ibis Paint stores this, by platform

Android
App-private storage (or SD card if enabled)

Tap the dots menu in My Gallery, then Display Storage Folder Path to see the exact path. Change Save Folder switches between internal storage and SD card. Exported PNGs go to the gallery app.

iOS
App-private My Gallery (File Sharing via Finder or iTunes)

Copy .ipv files to PC with Finder File Sharing or Dropbox (Share > ibisPaint Artwork). Save finished work with Share > Photo (PNG) to write it to Photos.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move ibis Paint art to a new phone?

Export each piece as ibisPaint Artwork (.ipv) to Dropbox, then open Dropbox on the new device and send it back into ibis Paint. SD card copy works Android to Android. Cloud sync handles Windows and mobile together.

Where are exported ibis Paint images?

In the system photo library after you use Save Image. The editable .ipv stays in My Gallery. Back up both if you want to reedit later, since PNGs flatten layers.
