Where Does Ice Cubes Store Accounts and Drafts?
Ice Cubes keeps Mastodon sessions, drafts and UI state in its iOS container and Keychain under a verified bundle ID.
Last updated
Ice Cubes is an iOS only Mastodon client under com.thomasricouard.IceCubesApp. Accounts, caches and settings live in the standard sandboxed container with a per install GUID. Timelines and follows stay on instances, so local data covers session plus interface state. Fresh logins are the normal path after a reinstall or device switch.
The literal Documents path changes on every install, so the bundle ID is the stable identifier. Timelines stay on your instances. Local data is mostly session plus UI state, which makes fresh logins the normal migration path. Tokens sit in Keychain rather than Documents. Offload keeps them while full delete wipes the container and forces new auth. Drafts stay behind unless sync covered them.
Where Ice Cubes stores this, by platform
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents
Sandboxed container for the verified Ice Cubes bundle. GUID changes per install. Sessions in Keychain plus container; timelines stay server side.
Frequently asked questions
Do Ice Cubes drafts transfer to a new iPhone?
Log back into each instance on the new phone. Timelines and follows live server side. Drafts without posting stay behind unless iCloud sync covered them.
Where are Ice Cubes logins stored?
Tokens sit in the iOS Keychain, not in Documents. Offloading the app preserves them while deleting the binary. Full delete wipes the container and forces fresh logins.
