Where Are imo Chats and Media Stored?
imo keeps recent chats server side for about 90 days, with received media in device storage folders.
Last updated
imo has no chat export or cloud backup to manage. Recent history reloads from its servers with the tap to load control, roughly 90 days back. Deleting chats, contacts, the account, or the app clears that history for good.
Media you received is the part you can keep. Photos and videos save to device storage galleries or the imo folder. Copy those out regularly. Reinstalls start history from scratch, so treat media folders as the real backup.
Where imo stores this, by platform
Server side history, in-app only
About 90 days reloadable per imo FAQ. No Google Drive backup exists. Deleting or uninstalling wipes history with no restore path.
Device storage (imo media folders)
Received photos and videos. Copy them to a safe folder or cloud drive. These survive only if saved before chats were cleared.
Frequently asked questions
Can I restore imo chats after reinstall?
Only recent server side history reloads, and only if nothing was deleted. There is no backup file to import. Save important media out of chats before switching phones.
Where are imo photos saved?
In device galleries or imo folders on shared storage. Check the gallery app first, then a file manager. Move keepers to cloud backup since imo offers none.
