Where Does imo Store Chats and Media?

imo syncs chats through the account while photos, videos, and voice notes pile into gallery and app storage.

Last updated

imo messages sync through your account, so chat history survives reinstalls on its own. Storage pressure comes from media: auto-downloaded photos, videos, and voice notes.

Gallery copies appear when auto-save is on, in an album of their own. Voice notes and cache stay in app-private storage, visible only as a number in system settings. Clearing cache drops the temp files and leaves every chat intact.

Where imo stores this, by platform

Android
Gallery (imo album); Settings > Apps > imo (cache)

Photos and videos auto-save here when enabled. Voice notes stay in app-private storage. Clear cache in Settings > Apps > imo without losing chats.

iOS
Photos app (saved media); in-app chats

Same split: account holds chats, phone holds media. Save keeper media to Photos, then offload the app to drop cache safely.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stop imo filling my gallery?

Turn off auto-download on mobile data in imo's storage settings. Media then waits for Wi-Fi or a manual tap instead of flooding the gallery.
