Where Are Le Mans Ultimate Save Files Located?

Le Mans Ultimate splits data: player JSONs and setups in Steam UserData, replays and results partly under Documents.

Last updated

Le Mans Ultimate inherited the rFactor file split, so it keeps feet in two places. Player settings, setups, and mid-race saves live inside the Steam install under UserData. Replays and some config mirrors live under Documents. Either tree alone looks incomplete because it is.

For backup, the Steam UserData tree matters most. That is where controller JSONs and per-track setups sit. The Documents side is worth copying too, mainly for replays and results history.

Where Le Mans Ultimate stores this, by platform

Windows
<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData

Core tree. Player JSONs in UserData/player, setups per track under player/Settings, mid-race saves under Saves/Race Weekend. Copy this for migration.

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Le Mans Ultimate

Replay storage default plus config mirrors. Check here when a replay goes missing, not in the Steam tree.

Linux
<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/2397010/pfx/

Proton prefix for app 2397010. Same UserData layout inside drive_c. Documents side mirrors under the prefix users folder.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share Le Mans Ultimate setups?

Copy <Steam install>\UserData\player\Settings per track folder to the same path. That tree holds setups. Mid-race saves under UserData/Saves transfer the same way between same-version installs.

Documents or Steam folder: which is real?

Check Documents\Le Mans Ultimate for replays and config mirrors first. The authoritative player JSONs live in the Steam folder tree, which is the rFactor heritage showing through.

Do shared saves carry the other driver name?

Setups are plain files and copy fine. Mid-race saves carry the original driver name and session settings, so save your own preset before loading someone else file.
