Where Does Logseq Store Notes and Graphs?
Logseq graph folders, journals and config files, and why there is no fixed default notes path.
Last updated
Logseq has no default notes folder. The first launch asks you to choose a folder, and that folder becomes the graph: plain Markdown files with journals/, pages/ and assets/ inside, plus logseq/config.edn for per graph settings.
That design makes backup simple and sync your own job. Put the graph folder in any synced directory, since Logseq ships no sync of its own, and moving the folder is the entire move operation. App level state (graph registry, plugins) sits apart in ~/.logseq, with Electron user data under the usual OS support folders.
Where Logseq stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Logseq\
Electron user data (window state, configs.edn). Your actual notes live in whichever folder you chose as the graph: journals/, pages/, assets/ and logseq/config.edn inside it. Global state in %USERPROFILE%\.logseq.
~/Library/Application Support/Logseq/
Electron user data (window state, configs.edn). Your actual notes live in whichever folder you chose as the graph: journals/, pages/, assets/ and logseq/config.edn inside it. Global state in ~/.logseq.
~/.config/Logseq/
Electron user data (window state, configs.edn). Your actual notes live in whichever folder you chose as the graph: journals/, pages/, assets/ and logseq/config.edn inside it. Global state in ~/.logseq.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my actual Logseq notes stored?
In the folder you picked when creating the graph. Daily notes in journals/, the rest in pages/, attachments in assets/, settings in logseq/config.edn. Everything is plain Markdown (or Org), so any editor can read it.
How do I move a Logseq graph to a new location?
Move the folder in your file manager and reopen it in Logseq. That is the whole operation. If pages look stale afterwards, run Reindex from the menu to rebuild the cache.
