Where Does Markor Store Notes on Android?
Markor edits plain Markdown files wherever you keep them, with app preferences in private storage on Android.
Last updated
Markor is a file-first notes app: your notes are plain .md and .txt files in folders you choose, readable by any editor. The app itself only adds preferences, favorites, and recent lists in private storage.
Back up the folders, not the app. Any file copy, sync tool, or git repo carrying the folders preserves everything that matters, including the formatting. To-do lists in .todo.txt ride along the same way.
Where Markor stores this, by platform
/storage/emulated/0/Documents (Markor notes folders)
Notes live as plain files in folders you choose; back those up directly. App preferences and recents sit in private storage and rebuild on reinstall.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Markor notes to a new phone?
Copy your notes folders to the new phone via USB or cloud, install Markor, and re-point it at them. App preferences need a quick manual setup again.
Does Markor sync notes between devices?
No. Markor works on files in place with no account and no sync of its own. Pair it with Syncthing, Nextcloud, or any file sync for other devices.
