Where Does Mach3 Store Profiles and Settings?
Where Mach3 keeps XML profiles, macros and tool tables on Windows, and what to copy for a full move.
Last updated
Mach3 keeps everything under its install root instead of user folders. The XML profile is the settings file: screens, pins, motor tuning and offsets in one document. Macros, tool tables and fixtures live in subfolders beside it.
Copying or renaming the XML clones a whole machine setup, which is the standard way to run mill and lathe profiles side by side. Automatic backups accumulate in their own folder on every launch. License files sit at the root and travel with the folder. Label cloned profiles clearly so mill and lathe setups never mix.
Where Mach3 stores this, by platform
C:\Mach3\Mach3Mill.xml
Install root with XML profiles, Macros, tool tables, fixtures and license files together. Copy the whole folder for moves. Restore profiles from the xmlbackup sibling.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Mach3 to a new PC?
Copy the entire C Mach3 folder to the same path on the new machine, then install the parallel port or motion driver there. Profiles reference macros and tables by relative paths inside that root. Keep the license file with the copy or the install runs in demo mode.
Mach3 scrambles my profile on start. How do I restore it?
Open the xmlbackup folder inside C Mach3 and rename the newest backup for your profile back to xml. Mach3 writes a fresh backup on every launch, so the previous known good copy sits one run back. Restart after renaming to load it.
