Where Are Mad Father Save Files Located?
Where Mad Father keeps its WOLF RPG save folder and config on PC, and why no Save01 file exists anywhere.
Last updated
Mad Father keeps saves in a folder literally called Save inside its install tree. The WOLF RPG engine writes its own format there rather than any RPG Maker numbered file. A config file sits in the install root next to it for options.
That naming sends RPG Maker veterans hunting for files that never existed. The 2012 freeware original follows the same folder convention in its extracted directory. Copy the Save folder whole for backup and leave the engine files around it alone. Bottle and diary flags share the Save folder, so copy it whole every time.
Where Mad Father stores this, by platform
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mad Father\Save
Install folder Save tree with WOLF RPG save data. Config sits separately in the install root as Game.ini. No RPG Maker numbered files exist.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Save01 file for Mad Father?
The Steam remake runs on the WOLF RPG engine, which writes a Save folder instead of RPG Maker numbered files. Back up that whole folder with the game closed. The config file sits separately in the install root beside it.
Does Steam Cloud cover Mad Father saves?
Cloud syncs the install folder Save tree rather than any userdata path. Keep the game closed during manual copies so open files flush cleanly. Proton prefixes mirror the same tree on Linux.
