Where Does Mudbox Store Projects?

Mudbox scene files and user brush preset folders on Windows and macOS for 3D sculpting daily work use.

Last updated

Mudbox keeps scenes as .mud files wherever you save them. Documents\Mudbox is the usual home with project subfolders. Settings live apart in %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Mudbox with brushes and layouts.

macOS mirrors this under ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Mudbox. Back up .mud files with the settings folder. Settings rebuild with defaults when missing, projects do not. Layers keep sculpt passes non destructive. Stencil images import through the texture browser panel. Pose tools adjust limbs quickly.
