Where Does OpenMeetings Store Recordings and Config?

Where Apache OpenMeetings keeps meeting recordings, uploads and config files in a Linux server install.

Last updated

OpenMeetings splits state three ways: a data tree under webapps for recordings, uploaded files and avatars; properties files for ports and paths; and a database that is embedded by default. Package installs move the parent, so config wins over guides.

Recordings are the large part. They land under data recordings with generated previews beside them. Copy with the service stopped; calls write previews while running and copy badly live.

Where OpenMeetings stores this, by platform

Linux
/opt/openmeetings/webapps/openmeetings/data

Data tree with recordings, uploads and generated previews plus properties files. Exact parent varies by installer, so confirm in openmeetings.properties. Stop the service before bulk copies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up OpenMeetings rooms and recordings?

Stop the service and copy the webapps data tree plus openmeetings.properties. Recordings and uploads need the data tree, connection settings need the properties file. Database dumps matter only for external DB setups.

My OpenMeetings files are not under opt. Where now?

Check openmeetings.properties and the admin Backup panel. Default installs use an embedded database with files under webapps, but package and Docker layouts relocate them. The config file always names the live dirs.
