Where Does PaintShop Pro Store Brushes and Workspaces?

PaintShop Pro splits resources between Program Files defaults and your Documents folder, all changeable in File Locations.

Last updated

PaintShop Pro looks for brushes, scripts, tubes, gradients, and workspaces in a list of folders you can inspect under File, Preferences, File Locations. Factory resources ship under Program Files. Anything you create or download lands in your Documents under Corel PaintShop Pro and the version year.

That two tier system confuses people during reinstalls. The Program Files side is replaced by the installer, so your custom content is only safe if it went to the Documents side or a folder you added yourself. Check the Save to column in File Locations before you assume.

Where PaintShop Pro stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\<version>

Your brushes, scripts, workspaces, and other custom resources land in subfolders here. Defaults ship under C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro <version> (64-bit). Open File > Preferences > File Locations to see and change every path.

Frequently asked questions

I reinstalled and my brushes are gone. Where were they?

Probably in the old Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro folder for that version, unless you changed File Locations. Reinstalls replace Program Files but leave Documents alone. Point the new install at the old folders with File, Preferences, File Locations, Add.

Can I keep resources in Dropbox or on another drive?

Yes. Add the folder in File Locations, tick Enable, and pick it in the Save to list. PaintShop Pro will search and save there from then on. Keep the Cache and CMYK Profiles entries single location, since those accept only one folder.
