Where Does Parabolic Save Downloads?

Parabolic saves to the folder picked in Preferences, with playlists in titled subfolders. Flatpak data lives under its app id.

Last updated

Parabolic keeps downloads and settings apart. Finished files go to the save folder from Preferences (playlists get their own titled subfolder there). App state lives in per OS config folders, with the Flatpak build namespaced under its app id.

The app spans GNOME, Qt, Windows, and macOS builds from one codebase. Preferences hold codec, format, and folder choices. Check the save folder setting first whenever files seem missing, since each build defaults independently. Concurrent downloads share the one target folder.

Where Parabolic stores this, by platform

Linux
/home/<username>/Downloads/Parabolic

Default style save location pattern. The live value is whatever Preferences shows, so confirm there first.

Linux
/home/<username>/.var/app/org.nickvision.tubeconverter

Flatpak app data for the Flathub build (org.nickvision.tubeconverter). Config and caches live here.

Windows
C:\Users\<username>\Downloads\Parabolic

Windows build save default. Set per format defaults in Preferences to split audio and video targets.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change where Parabolic saves?

Open Preferences and set the save folder. Playlists then land in a subfolder named for the playlist inside it.

How do I migrate Parabolic settings?

Copy the config folder to the same path on the new machine. Downloads themselves stay wherever you saved them, outside the config.
