Where Does Tartube Store Downloads and Database?
Tartube downloads everything into one data directory holding tartube.db. Manage or relocate it from File, Database preferences.
Last updated
Tartube fuses downloads and database into one data directory. Every video lands there, and the tartube.db file inside indexes channels, history, and options. The docs warn against letting other apps write into it.
The location is yours to choose. Database preferences list every known database and switch between them, including ones on external drives. Never touch the hidden subfolders or the db file itself while the app runs. Channel artwork and metadata caches fill the same tree as downloads complete.
Where Tartube stores this, by platform
/home/<username>/tartube-data/tartube.db
Default data directory holding videos plus tartube.db. Relocate from Database preferences for bigger drives.
C:\Users\<username>\tartube-data\tartube.db
Same single folder model on Windows. The installer build and the portable bat share the layout.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move the Tartube database?
Use File, Database preferences, Add new database on an external drive, then switch. Tartube remembers loaded databases and refreshes them from disk.
Can I add videos by hand?
Copy video files into the data folder with Tartube closed, then run Operations, Refresh database. It matches loose files into channels automatically.
