Where Does Photomator Store Libraries?

Photomator libraries and edits on Mac and iPhone, where the library bundle actually sits.

Last updated

Photomator (Pixelmator team) edits sit inside Photos libraries or its own library bundle in Pictures. Non destructive edits, presets and machine learning models reference that bundle rather than loose files.

On iPhone the same data lives in the app container and syncs through iCloud Photos. The Mac path below is the one to back up. Close the app first or the copy splits mid write.

Where Photomator stores this, by platform

macOS
~/Pictures/Photomator Library.photoslibrary

Default photo library home. Photomator work references the System Photo Library here. Copy the bundle with the app closed, not individual masters.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents

Edits sync through iCloud Photos when enabled. Reach files through the Files app or a backup. The container ID changes per install, so never hardcode the GUID.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move a Photomator library?

Keep the library bundle closed in Photomator and copy the .photolibrary package elsewhere. Reopen by double clicking. iCloud Photos libraries need sync time before they show as complete on the new Mac.
