Where Does Plexamp Store Offline Cache and Settings?

Plexamp caches offline music in app data folders on desktop, with storage controls inside mobile settings.

Last updated

Plexamp downloads for offline play live in its own cache, not in Music. Desktop builds use normal Electron style app data paths. The mobile apps keep downloads in private storage with an optional SD card target on Android.

Your real library stays on the Plex server. Plexamp cache is disposable. If space runs low, lower the cache limit or remove downloads from inside the app. Server connection plus login restores access.

Where Plexamp stores this, by platform

Windows
%AppData%\Plexamp (cache and settings)

Offline tracks and image cache. Manage size from Plexamp settings. Deleting by hand logs you out, so prefer in-app removal.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Plexamp (cache and settings)

Same cache model as Windows. Apple Silicon and Intel builds share the path. Keep login details handy before wiping.

Android
Private app storage, optional SD card

Set storage location and limit in Plexamp settings. Moving location deletes old downloads. Cache plays only inside Plexamp or the main Plex app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play Plexamp downloads in another app?

No. The files are cached for Plexamp with server metadata attached. Use Plex server sync or download from the server separately if you need plain files.

Where do I change Plexamp storage size?

Open Plexamp settings and look for Downloads or Storage. Set a limit that fits the device. The app prunes oldest cache first when it hits the cap.
