Where Does Tidal Store Offline Music?
Tidal keeps offline albums in encrypted app cache on desktop and mobile, playable only inside the app.
Last updated
Tidal offline content never appears as normal audio files. Desktop apps cache encrypted tracks under their app data folders. Mobile apps do the same in private storage. You manage everything from My Collection, then Downloaded.
Treat the login as part of the backup. Logging out or clearing cache wipes offline copies. There is no user folder to copy to another player. Keep playlists on the account and redownload after a reinstall.
Where Tidal stores this, by platform
%AppData%\TIDAL (encrypted offline cache)
Offline tracks play only in Tidal. No export path. Free space matters more than file hunting, since cache size follows your download picks.
~/Library/Application Support/TIDAL (encrypted offline cache)
Same model as Windows. Manage from the app, not Finder. Deleting the folder just forces a redownload and logout.
Private app storage (offline mode)
Find items under My Collection, then Downloaded. Deleting from inside Tidal frees space. Copying from file managers will not yield playable files.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy Tidal offline files to another player?
No. The cache is encrypted and tied to your login and the Tidal app. Use Tidal offline mode for travel. Buy or rip files separately if you need portable copies.
How do I free space used by Tidal downloads?
Stay online, open the album or playlist, and flip its download toggle off. On Android also check storage settings. Do not delete cache folders by hand unless the app itself is stuck.
