Where Does PresentMon Save Capture Files?

PresentMon capture CSVs land in a fixed Intel folder for the GUI app, or wherever you launched the console build.

Last updated

Which PresentMon you run decides where files land. The overlay capture app always writes its pmcap CSVs into an Intel/PresentMon/Capture folder in Local AppData, whether you want them there or not. Long sessions pile up fast, so that folder deserves periodic cleaning.

The console build behaves differently: by default it drops a PresentMon timestamp CSV into whatever directory you launched it from. Pass --output_file to pin captures to a benchmarks folder instead of scattering them across random terminals.

GUI capture app output: pmcap data CSV plus a stats summary per run. Service logs live separately under %AppData%/PresentMon2Capture.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose where PresentMon saves CSVs?

Launch the console build with --output_file pointing at your benchmarks folder. The GUI app has a fixed Capture folder, so move files out of it after each session.

What is the stats CSV next to my PresentMon capture?

A per-run summary with average, minimum and percentile FPS. Keep it beside the raw pmcap file and you can compare runs without reopening the full data.
