Where Does Pyramix Store Settings and Databases?

Pyramix settings, media databases, plugin lists and registry keys on Windows, from official Merging docs.

Last updated

Pyramix spreads across four Windows locations by design. Roaming AppData holds working settings, Documents holds layouts and templates, ProgramData holds plugin lists, and the registry holds the master switch. Merging documents each tree in its cleanup guides.

Registry surgery is the documented fix for corrupt UI state. Export first, then delete the Merging Technologies key and restart. Databases relocate from inside the app, never by dragging folders.

Where Pyramix stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Merging Technologies\Pyramix

Working settings tree; layouts and templates live separately in Documents\Merging Technologies. Plugin lists (.pms) sit in C:\ProgramData\Merging Technologies. Registry master key HKCU\Software\Merging Technologies resets everything when deleted (export first).

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Pyramix settings?

Export HKCU\Software\Merging Technologies to a .reg file before touching it. Deleting the key resets everything and fixes odd UI bugs like the broken surround panner, but unsaved settings vanish.

How do I move the Pyramix media database?

Under Settings, All Settings, Application, Location, Default Database Location. Merging recommends the fastest drive rather than the OS disk. Fade libraries get their own path beside it.

Where are Pyramix layouts and templates?

In Documents\Merging Technologies: layouts, templates, macros and shortcuts. Back that folder up separately from AppData; the two trees serve different masters.
