Where Does Samplitude Store Settings and Projects?
Samplitude Pro X settings, activation files and project defaults on Windows, now under Boris FX ownership.
Last updated
Samplitude is Windows only and keeps versioned settings as .ini files under ProgramData's MAGIX tree, with activation state in the registry. Projects themselves live wherever you save them. The Boris FX buyout changed the logo, not the folders.
Activation loops are the classic complaint. Windows major updates invalidate the stored state, and the documented fix is deleting the versioned .ini so activation recreates it. Projects never depend on these files.
Where Samplitude stores this, by platform
C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Samplitude
Versioned .ini files per release live here; delete the matching one to cure activation loops. ProgramData is hidden, so paste the path or enable hidden items. Projects (.sam) live wherever you saved them, independent of this folder.
Frequently asked questions
Samplitude asks for activation on every start, how do I fix it?
Rename or delete the versioned installation_suite_proX .ini under ProgramData\MAGIX\Samplitude. The activation dialog then completes cleanly on next launch. Run once as administrator if it recurs.
Do old MAGIX Samplitude paths still work?
No. MAGIX sold the line to Boris FX, but installs, paths and project formats carried over. Old MAGIX folders and registry keys still apply; only the vendor name on the splash changed.
How do I move Samplitude to a new PC?
Save the project wherever you like (.sam plus audio), then back up the ProgramData .ini and the registry activation. Projects reference audio by path, so keep media folders stable.
