Where Does Razer Synapse Store Profiles?
Razer Synapse 3 profile and macro folders under ProgramData, and why in-app export beats copying them.
Last updated
Razer Synapse 3 keeps profiles and macros under ProgramData, nested per Razer account and device. The folder names include a long RZR_ account ID and numeric device IDs, so nothing is human readable and hand copying between different hardware often fails.
Razer’s own guidance is blunt: use the in app Export control instead of copying these folders. Exported files (.synapse4 on Synapse 4, legacy formats on 3) are portable across machines, while raw folder copies are fragile. Treat the ProgramData path as a rescue route for dead installs, not a backup strategy.
Where Razer Synapse stores this, by platform
C:\ProgramData\Razer\Razer Central\Accounts\[RZR_ID]
Replace RZR_ID with your own account folder. Profiles sit under Emily3\Devices\[device-id]\Profiles and macros under Emily3\Macros. ProgramData is hidden by default, so paste the path into the Explorer address bar.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up razer synapse profiles properly
Open Synapse, pick the device, and use Export to save a profile file wherever you like. Import reverses the flow. Razer documents this as the migration path, and the files survive uninstalls that wipe ProgramData.
what happened to synapse 2 cloud sync
Log in with your Razer ID and export every profile and macro you want to keep. After the sunset date, existing local settings keep working but new settings no longer sync to the cloud.
