Where Does Responsively Store Settings and Devices?

Where Responsively App keeps device presets, workspaces and cache on desktop OSes, and which folder name your build uses.

Last updated

Responsively is open source Electron, so settings live in the usual per OS config folder. The catch is the folder name: builds have used both Responsively and ResponsivelyApp. Contents are the same either way.

Look for whichever name exists on your machine and treat it as the source of truth. Preferences and custom devices sit inside, with cache subfolders beside them. Copy the whole folder with the app closed to move machines.

Where Responsively stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Responsively

Electron data folder; name can be Responsively or ResponsivelyApp by release. Close the app before copying. Cache subfolders are safe to delete alone.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Responsively

Same layout under Application Support with either folder name. Use Go to Folder in Finder. Custom devices and workspace state copy with the parent.

Linux
~/.config/Responsively

Same layout under XDG config with either folder name. Respects custom XDG_CONFIG_HOME. Copy the existing variant to migrate between Linux hosts.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Responsively devices to a new computer?

Copy its config folder with the app closed. Device sets and preferences travel with it. If your build uses ResponsivelyApp instead of Responsively as the folder name, copy that one; the contents match.

Why do I see ResponsivelyApp instead of Responsively?

Some releases use ResponsivelyApp as the folder name. Check for both names under the same parent and back up whichever exists. The app renamed the folder between versions.
