Where Does Shiori Store Bookmarks?

Shiori stores bookmarks in SHIORI_DIR, default ~/.local/share/shiori on Linux. SQLite is the default backend.

Last updated

Shiori keeps it simple: one data folder with a SQLite database plus archived pages. The folder defaults to ~/.local/share/shiori on Linux and moves with the SHIORI_DIR variable.

Docker setups only differ in the mount. Point a host folder at the data path and the same files persist across recreations. Larger installs can swap SQLite for Postgres, but the folder still holds the archives.

Where Shiori stores this, by platform

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Shiori to a new server?

Copy the whole data folder, which holds the SQLite file plus thumbnails and archives. Set SHIORI_DIR to that path on the new host before starting.

Can Shiori use MySQL or Postgres?

Set SHIORI_DATABASE_URL to a MySQL or Postgres URL. SQLite stays the sane default for personal use, since the app is single-user shaped.

How do I persist Shiori in Docker?

Mount a host folder to the data path in your compose file, commonly ./shiori-data. Without the mount, a container recreate wipes the library.
