Where Does Sober Store Config and Data on Linux?

Sober Roblox client config, packages, logs and mod overlay folders on Linux.

Last updated

Sober runs the Android Roblox build inside a Flatpak with the ID org.vinegarhq.Sober. Older guides naming net.sober.Sober point at the wrong ID. Config and data split under that sandbox path.

Settings live in config.json. Game packages, logs, version state and XML settings branch off the data root beside it. The overlay folder is the mod target, not an addons directory.

Where Sober stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.var/app/org.vinegarhq.Sober/config/sober/config.json

JSON settings with fflags entries. Data root beside it holds packages, logs, version state and XML settings. Mods go in asset_overlay. Real Flatpak ID is org.vinegarhq.Sober, not net.sober.Sober.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Sober?

Copy config.json plus the data root with Sober closed. Packages re-download on demand, so the config and overlay matter most. Keep a spare copy until login and mods survive a launch.

Where do mods and flags go?

Put files under the asset_overlay folder in the data root. Flags go in config.json as fflags entries. The old instances and addons layout belongs to a different tool and does not apply here.
