Where Does Sonixd Store Servers and Settings?
Where the Sonixd music player keeps servers, cache and settings on desktop for backup and migration.
Last updated
Sonixd is an Electron Subsonic client, so servers, settings and cache live in the per OS user data folder. Playlists and favorites sync from the server; only local options and artwork cache need moving.
Copy the data folder with the app closed for migration. Server passwords may need re-entering when the OS keyring changes underneath. Clear only cache subfolders when artwork looks stale; settings survive alone.
Where Sonixd stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Sonixd
Servers and settings in Electron user data with cache beside them. Close the app before copying. Re-enter passwords when the keyring differs.
~/Library/Application Support/Sonixd
Same Electron layout under Application Support. Use Finder Go to Folder to reach it. Playlists sync from the server after signing in.
~/.config/Sonixd
Same layout under XDG config. Respects custom XDG paths. Cache regrows on demand after clearing.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Sonixd to a new computer?
Close Sonixd and copy its user data folder elsewhere. Servers and settings travel with it, cached art rebuilds on demand. Re-enter passwords on the new machine when the keyring differs.
Where is the Sonixd music cache?
Open Settings inside Sonixd and read the cache location. Defaults sit under the app data folder, but the field always shows the live path. Transcoded cache regrows after clearing.
