Where Does Spark Store Data on Mac?

Spark container folder on Mac for clean reinstalls, and why mail itself never lives there.

Last updated

Spark on Mac keeps preferences, sync state and offline cache in ~/Library/Group Containers/3L68KQB4HG.group.com.readdle.smartemail (beta builds use a parallel beta container). Readdle's own clean install doc is trashing this folder, restarting, and logging in again.

Mail itself never lives there: message bodies stay on provider servers (Spark caches about a month on WiFi), while Teams items, templates and Send Later live on Spark servers. Deleting the container signs you out locally and nothing else; relogin restores everything from servers. Windows paths are unpublished by Readdle, so no Windows entry here.

Where Spark stores this, by platform

macOS
~/Library/Group Containers/3L68KQB4HG.group.com.readdle.smartemail/

App support, sync state and local cache (beta: ...group.com.readdle.beta.Spark-Mac). Delete for clean reinstall per official docs; mail restores from servers on login. Mac only in this post; Windows path unpublished.

Frequently asked questions

How do I clean reinstall Spark on Mac?

Trash the Group Containers folder above, restart, and log in again. Accounts, mail and teams content all return from servers; only local cache rebuilds.

Does deleting Spark data delete my emails?

No. Providers hold message bodies and Spark servers hold teams extras; local folders cache roughly a month for offline reading. Nothing irreplaceable lives on disk.
