Where Does TreeSize Store Settings?

TreeSize GlobalOptions.xml and ScanHistory.xml under JAM Software AppData, and the export route.

Last updated

TreeSize stores options as XML files in a JAM Software folder under Roaming AppData. GlobalOptions.xml holds the configuration and ScanHistory.xml remembers past scans. The folder name may carry the edition, such as TreeSize Professional, so look for the JAM Software parent first.

Close TreeSize before touching these files by hand. The app reads them at startup and writes on exit, which silently discards outside edits made while it runs. For safe transfers the supported route is the Export and Import pair under Tools and then Options.

Where TreeSize stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\JAM Software\TreeSize

Professional edition uses a TreeSize Professional subfolder instead. ScanHistory.xml in the same directory is disposable history, while GlobalOptions.xml is the file worth backing up.

Use Tools, Options and then Export in TreeSize to save a settings file, and import it on the target machine. Copying GlobalOptions.xml by hand works too, with TreeSize closed on both ends.

Deploy a prepared config to the TreeSize AppData folder before first launch, or set registry defaults under HKLM Software JAM Software TreeSize. The vendor documents both routes for managed installs.
