Where Does Warehouse Store Snapshots and App Data?

Warehouse snapshot folder and the standard Flatpak app directories it manages on Linux.

Last updated

Warehouse reads the standard Flatpak per-app layout directly. Each installed app gets a folder under ~/.var/app with data, config and cache inside. That layout is the whole source of truth for sizes and snapshots.

Warehouse keeps its own snapshots as archives inside its own Flatpak data folder. Copy that folder to migrate them. Custom install locations move everything, so confirm the root first on unusual setups.

Where Warehouse stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.var/app/[AppID]

Standard Flatpak per-app directory with data, config and cache inside. Warehouse reads this layout for sizes and snapshots. Custom install locations (version 2.0 and later) and FLATPAK_USER_DIR change the root. Its own snapshots sit under ~/.var/app/io.github.flattool.Warehouse/data/Snapshots.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Warehouse snapshots?

Copy the Snapshots folder under ~/.var/app/io.github.flattool.Warehouse/data to external storage with Warehouse closed. Restoring means putting that folder back before opening Warehouse again.

Why does Warehouse show different sizes than my disk manger?

The app assumes the default Flatpak root. Version 2.0 and later support custom install locations, which move app data elsewhere. Check Flatpak user directories or the FLATPAK_USER_DIR variable when sizes look wrong.
