Where Does UGREEN NASync Store Shares and Snapshots?
UGREEN NASync keeps shared folders on storage volumes (/volumeX), snapshot data under /volumeX/@snapshot, and Sync and Backup packages as .ubk files on the backup target.
Last updated
UGREEN NASync organizes disks into volumes and everything hangs off them. Shared folders live on a chosen volume, so the on disk parent looks like /volumeX with your share names beneath. The exact volume number depends on your storage pool setup.
Snapshots follow a fixed pattern under each volume at /volumeX/@snapshot with folder type and name below that. They only exist for folders on Btrfs volumes. Separate from snapshots, the Sync and Backup app writes versioned backups, including .ubk packages for external drive jobs that restore through UGOS Pro.
Where UGREEN NAS stores this, by platform
/volume1
Parent for shared folders on that volume, with snapshots under /volumeX/@snapshot. Check the Storage Management app for which volume holds your data and whether it uses Btrfs. Snapshot restore and clone run from the Snapshot section.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up a UGREEN NAS to an external drive?
Use Sync and Backup in UGOS Pro and pick incremental mode for a history that keeps deleted files, or mirror mode for an exact copy. Incremental jobs write native .ubk packages that need UGOS Pro to restore, so keep that in mind for off site copies.
Do snapshots protect against NAS failure?
No. Snapshots stay inside the storage space they protect, on Btrfs volumes only. They roll back deletions fast but disappear with the NAS itself. The vendor docs say the same: pair snapshots with an external or cloud backup for real protection.
