Where Does Unity Hub Store Editors and Settings?

Unity Hub keeps its config in the Electron userData folder, while editor installs and projects live where you put them.

Last updated

Unity Hub tracks three things separately: its own settings, the editor versions it installed, and your project list. Only the first lives in the Hub's data folder. Editors and projects sit at paths you chose during setup.

Reinstalling the Hub loses the project list but never the projects. Re-add project folders through the Hub interface and editors re-register when their paths are set again.

Where Unity Hub stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\UnityHub

Hub settings and project list. Editors default to C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor and projects wherever you created them. If the folder name differs by build, sort %APPDATA% by date after launching.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/UnityHub

Same role. Editors usually sit in /Applications/Unity/Hub/Editor. Clearing the Hub folder forgets the project list without touching a single project.

Linux
~/.config/UnityHub

Same layout. Editor installs follow the path chosen in Hub preferences. Re-link them after a reset instead of reinstalling gigabytes.

Frequently asked questions

unity hub forgot my projects, are they gone

No. Projects live in their own folders wherever you created them. Use Add project in the Hub to register each folder again. Only the Hub's list was lost.

where are unity editor installs stored

Wherever the Hub preferences pointed during install: Program Files on Windows, Applications on Mac. Check Hub preferences for the exact root before assuming the default.
