Where Does Unity Hub Install Editors?

Where Unity Hub installs Editors by default on each OS, and where Hub data and logs live.

Last updated

Unity Hub installs Editors into Hub/Editor under Program Files on Windows, /Applications on Mac and ~/Unity on Linux, with modules beside each version. The Hub data folder (projects list, settings, licenses) lives separately in AppData/Roaming/UnityHub and platform equivalents.

Uninstall in Hub removes Editors it installed; manually Located ones only detach, leaving files for you to delete. License files follow the data folder, so a Hub reinstall without backup signs you out rather than deleting anything irreplaceable.

Where Unity Hub stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor

Hub data and logs in %APPDATA%\UnityHub (info-log.json). Change future install paths in Hub Settings > Installs location. Editor.log in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unity\Editor.

macOS
/Applications/Unity/Hub/Editor

Hub data in ~/Library/Application Support/UnityHub. Editor.log in ~/Library/Logs/Unity. Same Settings relocation behavior.

Linux
~/Unity/Hub/Editor

Hub data in ~/.config/UnityHub. Editor.log in ~/.config/unity3d/Editor.log. Same install management.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Unity installs off C:?

Change Installs location in Hub Settings (gear icon); new installs go there while existing ones stay put. Move old Editors by reinstalling or use Locate to register a manually moved copy. Projects never move with Editors: they live wherever you created them.

Unity support asked for logs. Which files?

Hub logs sit in UnityHub/logs beside the data folder; Editor.log lives under AppData/Local/Unity (Windows), Library/Logs/Unity (Mac) or .config/unity3d (Linux). Support asks for info-log.json first, Editor.log second: provide both up front to skip a round trip.
