Where Does Windows Click to Do Store Files?
Click to Do keeps no lasting files: transfers use Temp and models ship via Windows Update. What actually sits on disk.
Last updated
Click to Do has no save folder. The feature runs on screen content in the moment and keeps nothing after the action finishes. Anything handed to another app, like Send to Paint, passes through the user Temp folder and vanishes with normal cleanup.
The AI behind it ships differently. Phi Silica and related models arrive as Windows AI Components through Windows Update and run on the NPU of Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft publishes no model file path. Settings, System, AI Components shows what is installed. Recall snapshots underneath it are encrypted and gated by Hello sign-in.
Where Windows Click to Do stores this, by platform
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
Ephemeral handoff only, for actions like Send to Paint or feedback uploads. Microsoft states content is not retained after the action. Models arrive via Windows Update as AI Components; no documented model file path exists, so do not trust guides naming one.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Click to Do models stored?
Microsoft does not publish a path. Phi Silica ships inbox on Copilot+ PCs and updates as a Windows AI Component through Windows Update. Check Settings, System, AI Components for install state rather than hunting folders.
Does Click to Do save screenshots?
No lasting copies. It analyzes the current screen on device and discards content after completing the action. Anything you explicitly send to another app lands wherever that app saves, with Temp as the transfer point.
How is Click to Do related to Recall snapshots?
It can act on Recall content, but the stores differ. Recall keeps encrypted snapshots gated by Windows Hello, while Click to Do itself retains nothing. Disabling Recall history does not remove the Click to Do entry point from the context menu.
