A Dev Drive is a ReFS volume you mount wherever you choose, usually as a drive letter for repos and build caches. Windows tracks it in Storage settings, not a fixed folder.
Mount point is your decision at creation. Defender performance mode follows the volume automatically.

Creation, mounting, resizing and deletion happen here; there is no fixed Dev Drive path since you pick the letter. Keep repos and package caches on the volume for the speed benefit. ReFS means no in-place conversion from NTFS.

Can I convert C: to a Dev Drive?
No. Dev Drives are separate ReFS volumes. Create one and move projects onto it.
Does Dev Drive skip antivirus?
No, it gets Defender performance mode, which is async scanning rather than none. Exclusions still apply normally.
