Where Does the Windows Clock App Store Alarms?
The Windows Clock app keeps alarms, timers, and world clocks as JSON files inside its Store package folder on Windows.
Last updated
Windows Clock (formerly Alarms and Clock) is a Store app, so its data lives in its package folder under Local AppData. Alarms.json and Timers.json inside LocalState hold your entries in compact JSON, with world clocks alongside.
Older builds also kept a Settings folder with settings.dat and roaming.lock, which is what classic backup guides copy. Newer entries live in the JSON files, so grab the whole package folder to cover both eras.
Where Windows Clock stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsAlarms_8wekyb3d8bbwe
LocalState holds Alarms.json and Timers.json; older Settings folder holds settings.dat. Close the app (terminate in Settings) before copying or restoring.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up Windows Clock alarms?
Close the Clock app, copy the whole package folder to safe storage, and paste it back on the new PC before launching Clock. Microsoft account sync may cover some items anyway.
Can I edit alarms by hand in the JSON files?
The JSON files are condensed single-line documents. Editing works (entries appear on next launch), but keep a backup copy since malformed JSON silently drops entries.
