Where Does Windscribe Store Settings and Logs?
Windscribe keeps app data and logs in standard folders on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus custom configs.
Last updated
Windscribe splits client state, helper logs, and custom configs across a few known spots. The desktop repos document them per OS, which makes support bundles easy to find. Most users only ever touch the custom configs folder.
Drop personal .ovpn or WireGuard files into custom_configs to use them inside Windscribe with firewall and proxy features. Send logs from the app when asking support. Hand deleting state folders logs you out.
Where Windscribe stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Local\Windscribe\Windscribe2
Client app data, location pings, and custom_configs subfolder. Service log sits beside the install at windscribeservice.log. Prefer in-app log export.
~/Library/Application Support/Windscribe/Windscribe2
Same role as Windows. Helper log is separate at /Library/Logs/com.windscribe.helper.macos/helper_log.txt. Custom configs go in the Windscribe folder variant.
~/.local/share/Windscribe/Windscribe2
Client data for packaged installs in /opt/windscribe. Helper log at /var/log/windscribe/helper_log.txt. CLI shares the same state.
Frequently asked questions
Where do custom OpenVPN configs go in Windscribe?
Into the custom_configs folder inside the Windscribe data dir for your OS. They appear in the app UI after a restart. This works for personal servers or other providers through Windscribe features.
Where are Windscribe logs for support?
Use the in-app troubleshooter to bundle them. By hand, check the Windscribe2 folder plus the helper or service log for your OS. Include both when a connection fails.
