Where Is the ytfzf Config File?

ytfzf reads conf.sh from the ytfzf config folder. Watch and search history live as cache files beside the config dir.

Last updated

ytfzf keeps config and history in XDG standard spots. The config folder holds conf.sh (sourced as shell at launch), a subscriptions file, and addon dirs. Environment overrides like the config dir variable point elsewhere without editing.

History sits one level over in the cache folder. Watch history and search history are separate flat files, toggled by their enable flags. Submenus read a sibling submenu conf when present, else fall back to the main file. Thumbnails and queue state join history in the cache dir.

Where ytfzf stores this, by platform

Linux
/home/<username>/.config/ytfzf/conf.sh

Main config sourced as shell. Leave it empty for defaults. Addons drop into subfolders here with exec bits set.

Linux
/home/<username>/.cache/ytfzf/watch_hist

Watch and search history files. Enable flags gate writing. Clear from the app or truncate by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I configure ytfzf?

Create conf.sh in the config folder. It sources as shell, so plain variable assignments work. The man page documents every option with defaults.

How do I clear ytfzf history?

Run with the history clear flag for search or watch history. Files live under the cache dir, so deleting them by hand works too.
